Institutional Learning Outcomes

This document specifies the Institutional Learning Outcomes (ILOs) for the Liberia International Christian College (LICC).

What Are ILOs?

The Institutional Learning Outcomes (ILOs) articulate the essential knowledge, skills, and dispositions that Liberia International Christian College expects all graduates to demonstrate, regardless of their academic program. While individual majors develop specialized competencies, the ILOs define the shared foundation of intellectual and personal development that characterizes an LICC education.

Why Does LICC Have ILOs?

The ILOs support the college’s mission “to equip people with the knowledge to serve Christ and to build their nations.” They express the college’s commitment to preparing graduates who can contribute meaningfully within Liberia and in the broader international community. As a Christian institution, LICC seeks to form graduates who think deeply, act ethically, engage others with respect, and pursue excellence in their professional and personal lives.

How Does LICC Use ILOs?

The ILOs serve several purposes.

  • They guide curriculum design, helping faculty align course content, teaching practices, and assessments with the competencies students are expected to master.
  • They provide a common framework for evaluating student learning across programs and for ensuring continuous improvement in academic quality.
  • The ILOs also help communicate to students, families, partners, and employers what graduates of LICC are prepared to do.

Together, these outcomes define the qualities of mind, character, and practice that LICC seeks to cultivate in every student. They form the foundation for academic planning, instructional development, and institutional effectiveness—ensuring that all graduates leave the college ready to serve Christ, strengthen their communities, and contribute with competence and integrity in a changing world.

NOTE: Beginning in 2027, all LICC academic programs must aim to achieve these outcomes. ILOs will spiral across courses in each program. (Not every course in a program will aim for all ILOs, but all the courses in a program collectively will aim for all ILOs.)
